Welcome to Quoted. (the "Platform"), a proprietary reverse-auction marketplace designed to streamline the moving process by connecting Consumers ("Customers") with Service Industry Enterprises ("Movers" or "Businesses"). By accessing or using our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
1. The Quoted. Marketplace Model
Quoted. operates as a reverse-auction marketplace. Our role is to facilitate the connection between Customers and Movers.
- Reverse Auction: Customers post move requests ("Quotes"). Movers compete for these jobs by submitting "Bids."
- Transparent Bidding Process: To ensure a seamless and efficient marketplace experience, all bids submitted by Movers are revealed to the Customer instantly upon submission. This allows Customers to evaluate offers in real-time.
- Platform Role: Quoted. is a technology platform and financial intermediary. We are not a moving company and do not perform moving services. All moves are handled by independent Mover Partners who are responsible for their own operations.
2. Geographic Scope
Quoted. services are strictly limited to the DMV Region:
- Washington, District of Columbia
- Maryland (All counties)
- Virginia (Select Northern Virginia counties)
3. Financial Structure and Payments
To ensure trust and security, all bookings follow a standardized financial flow facilitated by our third-party payment processor, Stripe.
- The Deposit: To confirm a booking, Customers pay a 15% deposit of the total quoted move price safely and securely via Stripe.
- Service Fee: Quoted. retains 7.5% of the total move price as its service fee from this initial transaction.
- Mover Payout: The remaining portion of the deposit (7.5% of the total price) is securely transferred to the Mover Partner's Stripe Connect account after the applicable 48-hour cancellation window has passed.
- Final Balance: The remaining balance of the move (85% of the total price) is collected directly from the Customer by the Mover on the day of service.
- Escrow Disclaimer: Quoted. acts solely as a marketplace and technology provider. While we process deposits and schedule payouts via Stripe, we are not a legal escrow provider or agent for holding funds.
4. Cancellation, Refunds, and Chargebacks
- 48-Hour Grace Period: Customers may legitimately cancel their booking within 48 hours of confirmation for a full refund of the deposit.
- Post-Window Policy: After the 48-hour window has passed, the deposit becomes non-refundable. At this point, the payout is released to the Mover Partner, and the booking is considered secured.
- Chargeback Policy (Customers): Customers must attempt to resolve any booking issues by contacting Quoted. or the Mover Partner before initiating a chargeback through their bank. Initiating fraudulent or unjustified chargebacks for services appropriately rendered or for deposits cancelled past the grace period violates these Terms and may result in account termination and collections.
- Negative Balance Liability (Mover Partners): As a marketplace facilitator, Quoted. routes payments to Mover Partners in good faith. If a Customer successfully disputes a charge (chargeback) or a validated refund must be issued after the Mover Partner's payout (the 7.5% deposit portion) has been transferred, the Mover Partner is ultimately liable for that reversed amount. Quoted. reserves the right to recover these reversed funds, in addition to any associated Stripe dispute fees, directly from the Mover Partner. Recovery may be executed via deduction from current or future Stripe Payout balances, or by direct invoice.
5. Customer Responsibilities
- Accuracy: Provide complete and accurate details, including inventory and specialty items.
- Visuals: Upload clear photos (min. 2 per room) for verification.
- Binding Estimates: Quotes are binding based on the provided info. Material changes in inventory or logistics (e.g., undisclosed stairs, extra items) may result in price adjustments by the Mover Partner.
6. Mover Partner Responsibilities
- Professionalism: Movers must arrive as scheduled and perform services professionally and in compliance with all DMV licensing requirements.
- Direct Coordination: After the booking is confirmed, Mover Partners take over all coordination, communication, and logistical follow-up.
- Dispute Resolution: Mover Partners are solely responsible for handling any service-related issues, damages, or claims.
- Verification: Movers may be requested to submit photos of move conditions on the day of service to verify job scope and prevent disputes.
7. Disclaimers
- Independent Relationship: Movers are independent contractors and not employees or agents of the Platform.
- No Liability: Quoted. is not responsible for damages, delays, or service disputes. All such claims must be settled directly between the Customer and the Mover.
